There are different levels of membership. In many cases, parents of youth in the system of care can join free the first year.
We coordinate support groups and other functions through our Family Advocates, parents who are trained to serve as front line resources, support groups facilitators, mentors and community leaders. Our materials are available at the Children's Board, The Family Support & Resource Center at the University Mall on Fowler Ave. in TAMPA and at various community programs, such as Positive SPiN located in St. James Place, a housing community in the University area.
Most members seek support in the community support groups; others decide to do more and want to share their story, energy and knowledge with other families and the community.
We offer local and national training to many parents to become community leaders for improving systems that work with SED youth. The Federation can also cover some transportation and childcare expenses when families travel to meetings on behalf of the chapter to represent the family voice. Many parents can also receive a stipend for attending these meetings.
WE HOPE YOU DECIDE TO GET CONNECTED!!!
